It was our great pleasure to have Mr. Andrew Buckley come to AS Matheson and spend the afternoon with some of our Grade 5 & 6 students who have expressed an interest in writing. Students wrote some of the silliest "not very happy ending" fairy tales. The future looks bright after seeing the creativity of our students.
Quiet colouring time in the lounge area of the library with friends during Mondays at lunch. We love our bean bag chairs.
Thank you to the Indigo Love of Reading program that gave over $400 worth of books to ASMatheson this year. These books will help support Learning in Depth and of course contribute to our love of reading at ASMatheson.
Winter is for stories and dreams! I am looking forward to hearing about everyone's dreams and stories for 2019.
Our administrators hosted a lovely end of term lunch for the staff in the Library Learning Commons. It was all homemade by our own Mrs. West! Amazing. The Library loves being a buzz with conversation and laughter....and cupcakes!
AS Matheson dives into deep thinking questions generated by the learners on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings in the Library Learning Commons. Students in Mrs. Wright, Miss. Kelly, Mrs. RW, & Mrs. Haskins class are all participating. Be sure to ask them about their topic.
The Rockets read us The Green Lizards vs. the Red Rectangles. We learned how to be creative to reach our goals. The Rockets helped our kindergarten friends remember that we may not be able to do something in the now, but eventually with practice and perseverance we can do lots of things! Thank you, Rockets for visiting and playing our trivia game and playing some fun hockey with our grade 6 students. See you next year!
Welcome to our Library Learning Common's first blog post. I want to share with everyone invested in AS Matheson the weekly goings on in our space. Check back every Tuesday for new posts. This November we have been coding in the library with our Grade 1-4 classes using Bee Bots. Everyone got the hang of it very quickly. Some groups went on to design their own pathway.
